Simon Waddell began learning the lute when he was nine years old. After studying at the CRR de Tours with Pascale Boquet and at the Pôle Supérieur de Paris-Boulogne-Billancourt, he was awarded a master’s degree by the CNSMD de Lyon as a member of the class taught by Rolf Lislevand. He then honed his skills on the instrument with specialists such as Claire Antonini and Eugène Ferré. His work as a musician has led him to perform with various ensembles, including Le Concert Spirituel, Près de Votre Oreille, Hemiolia and Fuoco e Cenere. His enjoyment of performing in theatres has also seen him walk out, lute in hand, onto to the stage with La Compagnie des Malins Plaisirs and La Compagnie de l’Aune. In 2012, he jointly founded the Ubique collective, a musical and theatrical creation company with whom he created a triptych of tales. He performs regularly both in France and abroad.
